My Journey into AnalyticsÂ
My journey into analytics was anything but planned—it happened by accident. Over a decade ago, I was hired to do stats and research with a psychology degree in hand. One day, my manager asked me for an update, and I explained that I was still waiting on the data. Rather than wait, she showed me how to write a few lines of SQL—and that small moment completely changed my career and my life. I had no idea this world even existed, but that one experience opened doors for me and my family that I never could have imagined.
As I grew in my career, I realized how overwhelming it can be to transition into analytics without a traditional tech background. That’s why I’m so passionate about helping others break into this field. I’ve been where they are, and I know how transformative the right tools and guidance can be.
Since that pivotal moment, I’ve been fortunate to work in a variety of roles that have shaped my career, including:

Each role taught me something new and helped me build a strong foundation in data. Along the way, I developed skills in tools like SQL, Tableau, Python, Excel, Power BI, and cloud platforms like AWS and Azure. I’ve worked in industries ranging from healthcare to insurance, solving real-world problems through data.
Now, I’m taking my experience even further by pursuing a Master’s in Analytics and Artificial Intelligence. With Data Analytics, Simplified, my mission is to take the fear out of learning analytics and make it accessible for anyone. Whether someone is just starting out or switching careers, I want to equip them with the skills, confidence, and clarity they need to succeed.

PrerequisitesÂ
My courses are designed for beginners and are accessible to everyone. For this course, I will provide you with access to a virtual machine (VM) that already has SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) installed. All you need is a laptop, Wi-Fi connection and the willingness to learn.

Course 1:
The High’s and Lo’s of Data
Objective:Â To introduce students to the concept of databases and SQL, while providing an understanding of basic SQL syntax.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Understand the fundamental concepts and significance of databases.
- Identify various types of databases and their practical uses.
- Define SQL and explain its role in database management.
- Write basic SQL queries using commands such as SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE.
- Filter and sort data using WHERE and ORDER BY clauses.
- Retrieve and manipulate data from a sample database using SQL.
Course 2:
Mastering Data Retrieval, Manipulation & Aggregate Functions
Objective:
To equip students with practical skills in data retrieval, sorting, and manipulation using SQL. This course builds on SQL fundamentals and introduces more advanced querying techniques.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Retrieve data efficiently using advanced SQL queries.
- Filter data using complex conditions and logical operators.
- Sort and limit query results with ORDER BY and LIMIT clauses.
- Manipulate data using INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE commands.
- Use basic aggregate functions such as COUNT, SUM, AVG, MIN, and MAX.
Course 3:
Joining Forces: Mastering SQL Joins, Subqueries, and Case Statements
Objective:
To equip students with advanced SQL querying techniques, including the use of joins, case statements, and subqueries, enabling them to perform complex data retrieval and manipulation tasks with confidence.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Understand and apply various types of joins to combine data from multiple tables.
- Use CASE statements for conditional expressions in queries.
- Use aggregate functions to perform calculations and summarize data groups.
- Write and incorporate subqueries within SQL statements.
- Use DISTINCT to eliminate duplicate records in queries.
- Work with string functions such as CONCAT, UPPER, LOWER, and LENGTH.
Course 4:
SQL Horizon: Window Functions and Views Mastery
Objective: By the end of this course, students will have mastered the use of SQL views for data abstraction and management, as well as advanced techniques in window functions for sophisticated data analysis and manipulation.
Learning Outcomes:
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Understand and create SQL views for simplified data management and abstraction.
- Manage and manipulate views, including creating, updating, and deleting them.
- Utilize advanced SQL functions, including window functions for analytical tasks.
- Apply window functions for complex data analysis, using various types of window functions like RANK, ROW_NUMBER, and DENSE_RANK.
- Use DATE and TIME functions to manipulate temporal data.

Course Refunds:
- Full Refund: If a participant cancels their enrollment at least 7 days before the course start date, they are eligible for a full refund.
- Partial Refund: If a participant cancels within 3 to 7 days before the course starts, they are eligible for a 50% refund.
- No Refund: If cancellation occurs within 72 hours of the course start date, no refund will be provided.
- Transfer Option: If a participant is unable to attend a course, they can request to transfer their enrollment to a future session at no extra cost, provided the request is made before the course begins.
- Missed Classes: No refunds are offered for missed classes, but participants will have access to course recordings if applicable.
